It’s taken from a paved boat ramp, looking down, too far down, on Lake Powell, one of Arizona’s reservoirs. These elephantine boats are trapped, and these below are as well. What is it we’re not talking about?

That is a boat ramp carved out of the canyon wall, but with Lake Powell some 160 feet below its normal level, the drop off to the water is now too severe for the launching of boats.
